Cameron listened to her own breathing slowly returning to normal while she rested her hand on Corbin’s head, which rested on her hip. Amazing didn’t even begin to describe how she was feeling. How had she been so afraid of the beauty of what she and Corbin had just done together? She already felt her body stirring and knew she wanted to do it again. She looked up and saw Corbin watching her tentatively, her hair falling over one eye.

“Wow!” Cameron laughed.

Corbin smiled then, looking relieved. She rose to her knees and climbed up to where Cameron was, hovering over her. “That was okay? You’re okay?”

“More than okay,” Cameron said before planting a kiss on Corbin’s lips.

Corbin settled in beside Cameron and tugged at the comforter beneath them. “Lift up and let’s get under the covers.”

Cameron complied and lifted her shoulders, then her hips, so the covers could be pulled from underneath her body. Once they were both settled, Corbin pulled Cameron close to her.

“Why didn’t you tell me how you felt? Why did you come here? How did you even know about this place? I have so many questions!”

Cameron grinned, shy again even after what they had just shared. “I could say the same for you. Why didn’t you tell me?”

Corbin shrugged and looked away, watching the fire, still burning but not as brightly. “I thought you were straight. You don’t talk about your parents much, but you’ve told me enough about them to let me know how they feel about gay people.”

Cameron looked away then, embarrassed. She knew the things she had told Corbin had probably made it sound as if her parents’ opinions were her own. God knew she carried around her share of internalized homophobia. “I know, I’m sorry. I’m only just now beginning to figure myself out, I think. All I know is I’ve had a thing for you since the day we met. I just...”

“What is it?” Corbin placed her hand on Cameron’s chin and tried to get her to look at her.

“I couldn’t admit it to myself is all. I’ve been fighting it.”

Corbin nodded as if she understood.

“I heard about this place from two women talking on the train, and I haven’t been able to think of anything clearly since then. I guess I thought if I came here, I’d be able to get you out of my system and get on with my life. Then there you were, sitting there watching me.” A wave of desire washed over Cameron as she said this, and her eyes grew dark. “But what are you doing here?”

Corbin kissed the corner of Cameron’s mouth. “Same as you, I guess. I came here to forget you.”

“But...you know Grayson?” Cameron felt shy asking this.

Corbin shrugged and looked toward the waning fire. “I’ve been here a few times.”

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw you standing at the bar. I thought you would turn and run, but when you invited me to join you, I wasn’t sure my legs would support me,” Corbin admitted.
